Many of the <strong>Cape</strong> <strong>Cod</strong> Towns have contributed design fundsfor projects to be implemented or constructed through the MPO process funds. Allprojects seeking Federal Highway Administration (FHWA)/state funds are required tohave the project designs reviewed by the MassDOT Highway Division. A public hearingis held at the 25% design stage. Many project proponents have early local public inputmeetings during the project development process in addition to the official 25% designstage public hearing.Projects that are recommended in this <strong>Regional</strong> <strong>Transportation</strong> <strong>Plan</strong> for <strong>Cape</strong> <strong>Cod</strong> willmove forward in the short range budget for implementation—the <strong>Cape</strong> <strong>Cod</strong><strong>Transportation</strong> Improvement Program (TIP), as the project designs are developed. TheTIP aligns the projects within the next four specific years for advertising and/orimplementation. The TIP is required under federal legislation to be updated at leastevery four years. In the Commonwealth of Massachusetts the TIP is typically updatedeach year by the <strong>Cape</strong> <strong>Cod</strong> Metropolitan <strong>Plan</strong>ning Organization (MPO), in cooperationwith state and federal partners.
