The development of the foreign exchange receipts and expenditure could be divided into two main stages – in the first stage, the receipts increased and reached its pick in 1996 with 4,1 bn USD, decrease of receipts is typical to the second stage, especially 1999, followed by 2000. Table 2 shows a light increase in 2001 but the situation after September 2001 and the floods in 2002 resonated in decrease of tourism receipts in 2002. The following years – 2003 - 2008 show increase in receipts again.
