O Gott, ich habe wohl töricht gesprochen, ich<br />
dehe, der gnädige Herr ist erzegt. Verzeiht mir,<br />
Sir, wenn ich gefehlt habe.<br />
MOROSUS<br />
Sag es iht! Dich habe ich zum Werber bestellt.<br />

BARBIER<br />
Mitnichten hast du Sir Morosus mißfallen,<br />
im Gegenteil, Kind<br />
von allen Frauen, die hier sind,<br />
ist seine Wahl auf dich gefallen.<br />
Tu auf dein Herz <strong>un</strong>d öffne dein Ohr,<br />
große Ehre steht dir bevor:<br />
Sir Morosus, obzwar von adligem Stand,<br />
wirbt durch mich bei dir um dein Herz<br />
<strong>un</strong>d deine Hand.<br />

O herr, was hab’ ich denn Böses getan daß<br />
Ihr meiner s<strong>po</strong>ttet <strong>un</strong>d Scherz treibt mit einem<br />
armen Mädchen?<br />
