SUMMARY
Volume LXV n. 1 – Gennaio-Marzo 2011
By making appropriate assumptions about rates, applying those recorded in 2007
according to forecasts compiled by ISTAT, it was possible to predict the size of the
future labor force belonging to the foreign population resident in Italy and the
native until 2030. What emerges is that for the next year, arising from the Italian
workforce, agrees with what is already a few decades ago had been proposed by
some scholars who had already stated that the steady decline in birth rates would
lead to a slowly progressive decline pressure on the labor market, and reduced the
population of working age, and then consequently also of the labor force, while the
foreign labor force tend to increase, a quota equal to the initial 1,685,882 will go to
4,389,315 in 2030, so the final balance will be active from 2007 to the extent of
2,703,433 people in more.
