The hearths and the postholes indicate some type of
settlement activity, but no house constructions could be
identified.
The small amount of pottery was mainly found up on
the impediment area. The pottery seems to be remains of
everyday domestic vessels used for food and storage. If this
has been a place for everyday domestic activities, the
dwelling houses would not be located far away from the
activity area. It cannot be excluded that this could be an
outlying area belonging to the settlement RAÄ 327, since
the dates resulting from both sites are contemporaneous.
However, considering the geographical distance and the
topographical circumstances, it seems more likely that this
is a contemporary settlement located west of RAÄ 327.
This site was probably situated directly north of RAÄ 330.
Section B, located on the arable lands east of section B
has the character of an outlying artisan/activity area tied to
a settlement. The constructions differed from those in section
A, consisting mostly of pits and deposits. The find of
an oven was a somewhat special construction in this sec-
tion. In addition, some hearths were found, but no postholes
were recovered.
The constructions in both sections are markedly different
from each other, as is the find material. In the arable
land area, a large amount of melted clay was found in the
oven and the construction nearby, while the hearths I section
A contained a small amount of pottery and burnt clay
of a daub-character.
Section B could be a artisan/activity area connected to
the settlement in section A. Section B could also be tied to
the neighbouring RAÄ 327. However, that area already
contains considerable traces of similar activities more close
by. Between section B and RAÄ 327 is also a natural depression
containing a smaller brook, which could form a natural
delimitation between two different settlements. The remains
currently investigated can be interpreted as the outskirts
of a settlement from the Early Iron Age of a similar
character to that found on the neighbouring RAÄ 327. This
would in that case indicate a high density of settlements in
the area during the Early Iron Age.
