BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Julie Holcomb received her Bachelor of Arts cum laude in History and Creative Writing from Pacific University (Forest Grove, Oregon) in 1999. She received her Master of Library and Information Science in Archives and Records Management from the University of Texas at Austin in 2000, and her Doctor of Philosophy in Transatlantic History in August 2010. At UT-Arlington, she received a Transatlantic Fellowship from the department of History. In 2007, she was named a University Scholar. Dr. Holcomb is a member of Beta Phi Mu and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies. Dr. Holcomb was named a finalist for a Woodrow Wilson Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship in Women’s Studies. From 2001 through 2008, Dr. Holcomb served as Archivist and later Director of the Pearce Civil War and Western Art Collections at Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas. She also served as an adjunct faculty member in the college’s history department, teaching the American history survey. During this period, she published Southern Sons, Northern Soldiers: The Civil War Letters of the Remley Brothers, 22 nd Iowa (Northern Illinois University Press, 2004). In 2008, Dr. Holcomb was named Lecturer in Museum Studies at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Her teaching areas include the history of museums, collections management, preservation and conservation, ethics, and archives. She serves as Secretary of the Board of Directors, Heart of Texas Regional History Fair. 260
