slopes, extremely stony, on a hillside in a reclaimed area previously used for surface<br />

mining; 0.75 mile north <strong>of</strong> Kiah Creek and 0.3 mile southeast <strong>of</strong> Frances Creek;<br />

<strong>US</strong>GS Trace topographic quadrangle; lat. 37 degrees 59 minutes 52 seconds N. and<br />

long. 83 degrees 12 minutes 06 seconds W.<br />

A—0 to 4 inches; yellowish brown (10YR 5/4) channery loam; weak fine granular<br />

structure; very friable; common fine roots; 30 percent sandstone channers<br />

(2 millimeters to 0.75 inch); slightly alkaline; gradual smooth boundary.<br />

C1—4 to 25 inches; yellowish brown (10YR 5/6) very channery sandy loam; massive;<br />

very friable; few fine roots; 40 percent sandstone channers (2 millimeters to<br />

3 inches); neutral; clear smooth boundary.<br />

C2—25 to 50 inches; yellowish brown (10YR 5/6) extremely flaggy sandy loam;<br />

massive; very friable; 60 percent sandstone flagstones, channers, and stones;<br />

10 percent siltstone channers (2 millimeters to 3 inches); moderately acid;<br />

gradual smooth boundary.<br />

C3—50 to 65 inches; yellowish brown (10YR 5/6) very flaggy sandy loam; massive;<br />

very friable; 45 percent sandstone flagstones, channers, and stones; 5 percent<br />

shale channers (2 millimeters to 3 inches); moderately acid.<br />
