Oi—0 to 1 inch; slightly decomposed leaf litter.<br />

A—1 to 5 inches; very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) fine sandy loam; weak fine<br />

granular structure; very friable; many fine, medium, and coarse roots; slightly acid;<br />

clear wavy boundary.<br />

C1—5 to 13 inches; fine sandy loam, 60 percent brown (10YR 4/3) stratified with<br />

40 percent black (N 2.5/) coal; massive; very friable; many very fine, fine,<br />

medium, and coarse roots; moderately acid; clear wavy boundary.<br />
