A—0 to 3 inches; dark brown (7.5YR 3/2) silt loam; moderate fine and medium<br />

granular structure; very friable; many fine, medium, and coarse roots; 10 percent<br />

shale channers; moderately acid; gradual wavy boundary.<br />

BA—3 to 7 inches; brown (7.5YR 4/4) silt loam; weak fine subangular blocky<br />

structure; very friable; common medium and coarse roots; 10 percent shale<br />

channers; moderately acid; clear wavy boundary.<br />

Bt1—7 to 15 inches; strong brown (7.5YR 4/6) channery silty clay loam; moderate<br />

medium subangular blocky structure; friable; common fine and medium roots; few<br />

faint clay films on faces <strong>of</strong> peds; 20 percent shale and siltstone channers; strongly<br />

acid; gradual wavy boundary.<br />
