Design and Procedure 3(Set) x 1(Prestige) with prestige as a with<strong>in</strong> subject variable and<br />

set as a between subject variable. <strong>The</strong> procedure was the same as <strong>in</strong> experiment 1, and the<br />

same <strong>in</strong>structions were given. <strong>The</strong> different sets were randomly assigned to the participants.<br />

Results <strong>The</strong>re were no overall effects <strong>of</strong> Set on Prestige, so the different sets were collapsed<br />

<strong>in</strong>to one for further statistical analysis. We should expect the prestige-bias to create a<br />

preference for the div<strong>in</strong>ers communicat<strong>in</strong>g with gods <strong>of</strong> high prestige. <strong>The</strong> distribution <strong>of</strong><br />

responses can be seen on figure 4.8.<br />
