with his will, Lucius Aconius Statura, his son, (set this up), at the<br />

people. This site was granted by decree of the town councillors.<br />

A man could be advanced rapidly through imperial patronage. Statura had not<br />

reached the primi ordines, but his distinguished war record may have been<br />

what brought him to Trajan’s attention, though we cannot tell if there were<br />
