3 Such articles must be cleared at a designated port. If the article is not entering a designated port, have the importer reroute<br />

the article to a designated port. The articles must also be accompanied by valid CITES documentation. If the articles are being<br />

imported commercially, the importer must possess a valid Protected Plant Permit issued by PPQ. Shipping <strong>and</strong> h<strong>and</strong>ling<br />

charges are to be borne by the importer. If the movement to a designated port is unacceptable, contact your District Field Office<br />

who will contact a PPQ Regional Botanist or CITES Specialist to see whether re-export is an option. If appropriate, safeguard<br />

the consignment.<br />

4 Require an original, signed <strong>and</strong> dated Certificate of Origin for fresh peppers. One Certificate of Origin can cover all<br />

consignments of fresh peppers in an individual truck. PROHIBIT ENTRY to fresh pepper consignments originating in the<br />

Netherl<strong>and</strong>s <strong>and</strong> transiting from Canada into the U.S.<br />

5 Require an original, signed <strong>and</strong> dated Certificate of Origin for fresh tomatoes. One Certificate of Origin can cover all<br />

consignments of fresh tomatoes in an individual truck.<br />
