Inspect s<strong>and</strong> pears from Japan for the following target pests:<br />

Arthropods<br />

Smaller Tea Tortrix (Adoxophyes orana)<br />

Peach Fruit Moth (Carposina nipponensis)<br />

Mealy bug (Crisicoccus matsumotoi)<br />

Yellow Peach Moth (Conogethes punctiferalis)<br />

Pathogens<br />

Black Spot (Alternaria kikuchiana)<br />

Brown Rot (Monilinia fructigena)<br />

Physalospora Canker (Physalospora piricola)<br />

Asian Pear Scab (Venturia nashicola)<br />

Directions for Sampling<br />

Upon arrival at the port of entry, r<strong>and</strong>omly select 30 boxes from throughout the<br />

consignment. Visually inspect 5 fruit from the 30 selected boxes (total of 150<br />

fruit). If the Inspector suspects the presence of a pest(s) in the fruit, based on<br />

bruising, blemishes, soft spots, holes, or frass, then cut the suspect fruit for<br />

internal inspection. Inspect the boxes <strong>and</strong> containers for larvae <strong>and</strong> hitchhiking<br />

pests.<br />
