Cold Treated Commodities<br />

Directions for Inspecting Cold Treated Citrus from South<br />

Africa <strong>and</strong> Clementines from Other Than Spain<br />

<strong>Import</strong>ant<br />

Clementines from Spain must be precleared. Refer to the separate Special<br />

Procedures for inspecting <strong>and</strong> recording results for Precleared Spanish<br />

Clementines.<br />

Break Bulk Consignments<br />

1. Select 75 boxes from each vessel.<br />

2. Divide the 75 box sample proportionally among each compartment of<br />

the vessel.<br />

3. R<strong>and</strong>omly select the boxes to be monitored <strong>and</strong>/or inspected from many<br />

areas of each compartment.<br />

4. Cut <strong>and</strong> inspect 10 fruits per box for monitoring the treatment.<br />

5. If the cargo is not precleared, inspect an additional 2 percent of the<br />

consignment<br />

Containerized Consignments<br />

1. Select eight boxes from each container from at least two pallets (it is not<br />

necessary to devan).<br />

2. Cut <strong>and</strong> inspect 10 fruits per box for monitoring the treatment.<br />

3. If the cargo is not precleared, inspect an additional 2 percent of the<br />

consignment<br />

Directions for Inspecting Cold Treated <strong>Fruits</strong> Other Than<br />

Clementines from Anywhere, Citrus from Spain or South<br />

Africa, or Litchis from China<br />

Cut <strong>and</strong> inspect 30 fruit per inspectional lot (it is not necessary to devan).<br />

Reporting Inspection Results<br />

1. Complete the chart that follows with the results of your monitoring<br />

treatment inspection <strong>and</strong> regular inspections.<br />

2. Send the completed chart weekly to APTL. An example of how to<br />

complete this chart follows:<br />
