Due to recent reports of exp<strong>and</strong>ed distribution of Bactrocera invadens in<br />

various countries in Africa, take the following action described in Table 2-24:<br />

PROHIBIT ENTRY<br />

Banana consignments must be<br />

accompanied by a <strong>Phytosanitary</strong> Certificate<br />

(PC) with an Additional Declaration (AD)<br />

stating either of the following:<br />

"The bananas in this consignment originate<br />

from an area recognized as free of<br />

Bactrocera invadens."<br />

OR<br />

"The bananas in this consignment have<br />

been produced in accordance with an<br />

APHIS approved systems approach <strong>and</strong><br />

have been inspected <strong>and</strong> found free of all<br />

life stages of Bactrocera invadens."<br />

1. SELECT <strong>and</strong> cut 300 units from 60 boxes<br />

2. INSPECT the cut fruit for internal feeders<br />

3. INSPECT the remaining fruit for external<br />

feeders<br />

4. SUBMIT pest interceptions using<br />

established procedures for cargo<br />

5. RELEASE if no pests are found<br />
