Grapes from Namibia<br />

Grapes from Namibia<br />

Use these procedures to inspect grapes from Namibia. Such grapes must<br />

receive m<strong>and</strong>atory cold treatment (T107-e) <strong>and</strong> m<strong>and</strong>atory methyl bromide<br />

fumigation (T104-a-1).<br />

Cold treatment may be administered in transit or upon arrival. However, the<br />

methyl bromide fumigation must be done at the Port of Entry.<br />

Break Bulk Consignments<br />

1. Select 10 boxes from 10 different pallets.<br />

2. If the consignment is in multiple compartments, pull at least one pallet<br />

from each compartment.<br />

3. Inspect each box, paying particular attention to finding mealybugs or<br />

snails.<br />

Containerized Consignments<br />

1. Select four boxes; each of the four boxes must be from a different pallet<br />

(it is not necessary to devan).<br />

2. Inspect each box, paying particular attention to finding mealybugs or<br />

snails.<br />

3. Inspect the rear of the container itself for hitchhiking snails.<br />
