List of Approved <strong>Fruits</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Vegetables</strong><br />

1 Inspect plantains, cooking bananas, <strong>and</strong> bananas which differ from the usual bananas of commerce for internal feeders (fruit<br />

flies).<br />

2 If Cydia fabivora, Epinotia aporema, or Maruca testulalis is found, see the special procedures for taking regulatory action on<br />

Beans Infested with Cydia fabivora, Epinotia aporema, <strong>and</strong> Maruca testulalis.<br />

3 Ivy gourd (Coccinia gr<strong>and</strong>is) is PROHIBITED ENTRY into Hawaii.<br />

4 Prohibited entry into Puerto Rico, Virgin Isl<strong>and</strong>s, Hawaii, <strong>and</strong> Guam. Cartons in which commodity is packed must be stamped<br />

“Not for importation into or distribution within PR, VI, HI, or Guam.”<br />

5 If treatment has not been completed before entry, HOLD the consignment <strong>and</strong> CONTACT PPQ through proper channels. The<br />

fruits or vegetables may arrive in the U.S. only:<br />

At ports located north of 39 o latitude <strong>and</strong> east of 104 o longitude<br />

At ports that have approved cold treatment facilities (refer to the PPQ Treatment <strong>Manual</strong> for a list of current approved cold<br />

treatment facilities<br />

6 For ethrogs, see the special procedures for Ethrogs from Medfly Infested Countries Entering NA <strong>and</strong> NP Ports.<br />

7 May only come from the Department of Peten <strong>and</strong> must be accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate declaring that, “The<br />

fruit originated in a fruit fly free area as specified in 7CFR 319.56.”<br />

8 Consignments must meet the following conditions:<br />

Tomatoes must arrive at the U.S. port of entry in insect-proof cartons or cartons covered with an insect-proof tarpaulin.<br />

Must be accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate issued by the Guatemalan department of agriculture stating that "These<br />

tomatoes were grown in an area recognized to be free of Medfly <strong>and</strong> the consignment has been inspected <strong>and</strong> found free of<br />

the pests listed in the requirements."<br />

The shipping boxes must be labeled with the identity of the production site.<br />

9 Mangoes must be treated with a hot water dip at an APHIS approved facility in Guatemala. Each box must be marked with<br />

the statement, “APHIS-USDA TREATED WITH HOT WATER.” The consignment must be accompanied by the original copy<br />

of the PPQ Form 203 completed <strong>and</strong> signed by the APHIS officer on site in Guatemala. REFER to the Officer Instructions in<br />

FAVIR for inspection procedures.<br />

10 May only come from the departments of Escuintla, Retalhuleu, Santa Rosa, <strong>and</strong> Suchitpéquez. Must be accompanied by a<br />

phytosanitary certificate declaring that “The papayas in this consignment were grown, packed, <strong>and</strong> shipped in accordance with<br />

the provisions of 7CFR 319.56.”<br />

11 Limited to Capsicum annum, Capsicum baccatum, Capsicum chinense, <strong>and</strong> Capsicum frutescens. Consignments must meet<br />

the following conditions:<br />

Peppers must arrive at the U.S. port of entry in insect-proof cartons or cartons covered with an insect-proof tarpaulin.<br />

Must be accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate issued by the Guatemalan department of agriculture stating that “These<br />

peppers were grown in an approved production site <strong>and</strong> the consignment has been inspected <strong>and</strong> found free of the pests listed<br />

in the requirements.”<br />

The shipping boxes must be labeled with the identity of the production site.<br />

12 Papayas <strong>and</strong> pineapples are PROHIBITED ENTRY into Hawaii.<br />

13 Must be accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate issued by the Guatemalan department of agriculture stating that (1) the<br />

fruit is free from Coccus moestus, C. viridis, Dysmicoccus neobrevipes, Planococcus lilacinus, P. minor, <strong>and</strong> Psedococcus<br />

l<strong>and</strong>oi; <strong>and</strong> (2) all damaged fruit was removed from the consignment prior to export under the supervision of the Guatemalan<br />

department of agriculture. Shipping boxes must be labeled, “Not for distribution in HI, PR, USVI, <strong>and</strong> Guam.”<br />

14 Consignments must meet the following conditions:<br />

Tomatoes must arrive at the U.S. port of entry in insect-proof cartons or cartons covered with an insect-proof tarpaulin.<br />

Must be accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate issued by the Guatemalan department of agriculture stating that "These<br />

tomatoes were grown in an approved production site <strong>and</strong> the consignment has been inspected <strong>and</strong> found free of the pests listed<br />

in the requirements."<br />

The shipping boxes must be labeled with the identity of the production site.<br />
