List of Approved Fruits and Vegetables
7 The consignment must be accompanied by a Phytosanitary Certificate (PC) with an Additional Declaration (AD) attesting to
freedom from Brachycerus spp. and Dyspessa ulula. Consignment is admissible into the continental U.S. only and is subject
to inspection at the first port of entry. If inspection reveals the target pests (Brachycerus spp. or D. ulula), the required
fumigation, T101-e-2, is a fumigation under vacuum. However, as of October 2008, there are no APHIS-approved commercial
vacuum chambers in the US. Consignments with target pests must be reexported, destroyed, or returned to the country of
origin.
8 Require a phytosanitary certificate from the Israeli Ministry of Agriculture which declares that, “The lettuce was grown and
shipped in accordance with 319.56-24(a) (1).” If the lettuce is packed in a plastic bag, the construction of the plastic and
method of packing may prevent the use of a fumigation treatment should a quarantine pest of concern be found. Contact PPQ
for information related to the packaging.
9 Litchi is PROHIBITED ENTRY into Florida. Boxes must be stamped, “Not for importation into or distribution within FL.”
10 Require phytosanitary certification which declares that: 1) The melons were grown in approved areas in the Arava Valley or
the Kadesh–Barnea area of Israel; 2) The fields were inspected prior to harvest; and 3) The melons were inspected prior to
export and found free of pests. For a list of approved growers, go to: http://www.aphis.usda.gov/import_export/plants/
manuals/ports/downloads/melon_list_Israel.pdf
11 Each commercial consignment is subject to inspection and must be accompanied by an import permit and a Phytosanitary
Certificate signed by the PPIS and bearing the additional declaration (AD) "This consignment has been inspected and found
free of Helicoverpa armigera and Scirthothrips dorsalis."
Consignments are admissible into the continental United States only.
If a quarantine significant pest is found upon inspection, the consignment must be RE-EXPORTED or DESTROYED. Methyl
bromide treatment is not an option because the squash flowers are not covered by the label nor the USDA FIFRA crisis
exemption.
12 Consignments of tomatoes require an import permit and port of entry inspection. Consignments must be accompanied by a
Phytosanitary Certificate (PC) with an Additional Declaration (AD) stating EITHER of the following:
"Tomato fruit in this consignment originate from a pest-free area that meets the requirements of 7CFR 319.56-5, and are free
of Tuta absoluta."
OR
"Tomato fruit in this consignment have been produced in accordance with an APHIS approved systems approach, and have
been visually inspected and are free of Tuta absoluta." (See Federal Order #DA-2010-15,)
REFER to FAVIR for the "Inspection Aid for Tuta absoluta".
13 Prohibited from the Palestinian controlled portions of the West Bank, otherwise require phytosanitary certification which
declares that: 1) Only tomato varieties 111, 121, 124, 139, and 144 are included in the consignment; and 2) The tomatoes
were packed into insect proof containers within 24 hours after harvesting.
14 Because treatment is required, HOLD consignment and CONTACT PPQ through proper channels.
15 For ethrogs, see the special procedures for Ethrogs from Medfly Infested Countries Entering NA and NP Ports.
16 T101-l-2 is a methyl bromide fumigation treatment conducted under vacuum. As of October, 2008, there are no
APHIS-approved commercial vacuum chambers. The consignment must be reexported, destroyed, or returned to the country
of origin.
