of <strong>the</strong> 7th Infantry Division at Fort Carson. In addition <strong>to</strong><br />

command<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> division, he supervised a massive mobilization<br />

and deployment effort <strong>in</strong> support of operations <strong>in</strong><br />

Afghanistan and Iraq. Follow<strong>in</strong>g his division command he was<br />

assigned <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> Pentagon as <strong>the</strong> U.S. Army Assistant Deputy<br />

Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7. <strong>The</strong> army promoted him <strong>to</strong> Lieutenant<br />

General <strong>in</strong> 2006, and as this manuscript nears completion, he is<br />

<strong>the</strong> Assistant Chief of Staff for Installation Management/Command<strong>in</strong>g<br />

General, Installation Management Command, United<br />

States Army, Wash<strong>in</strong>g<strong>to</strong>n, DC.<br />

Bill Wimbish also cont<strong>in</strong>ued <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> service, command<strong>in</strong>g<br />

<strong>the</strong> 6-6 <strong>Cavalry</strong>, an attack helicopter battalion and, as a colonel,<br />

Michael Cobb retired from <strong>the</strong> army and lives outside<br />

Fort Knox <strong>in</strong> Elizabeth<strong>to</strong>wn, Kentucky. He is a defense contrac<strong>to</strong>r<br />

and now commands <strong>the</strong> 3rd Armored <strong>Cavalry</strong> Regiment at<br />

Ft. Hood, Texas, where he is currently prepar<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> regiment<br />

for its return <strong>to</strong> Iraq. Ken Pope is a foreign area officer and has<br />

served with a Russian Airborne Group <strong>in</strong> Kosovo and recently<br />

completed a <strong>to</strong>ur with <strong>the</strong> American Embassy <strong>in</strong> Tall<strong>in</strong>n, Es<strong>to</strong>nia.<br />

Ken is currently a START Mission Commander with <strong>the</strong><br />

Defense Threat Reduction Agency at Fort Belvoir, Virg<strong>in</strong>ia.<br />

Doug Morrison went on <strong>to</strong> become <strong>the</strong> commander of <strong>the</strong> 3-7<br />

<strong>Cavalry</strong>, attended <strong>the</strong> National War College and was selected <strong>to</strong><br />

command a brigade. After much soul-search<strong>in</strong>g he turned <strong>the</strong><br />

opportunity down and was assigned as <strong>the</strong> Direc<strong>to</strong>r, Lessons<br />

Learned Comprehensive Review Group, Homeland Security<br />

Council. He recently retired from <strong>the</strong> army and is work<strong>in</strong>g for<br />

a consult<strong>in</strong>g firm. Roy Peters left active duty <strong>in</strong> June 1994, and<br />

later f<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>g his desire <strong>to</strong> fly helicopters <strong>to</strong>o strong, jo<strong>in</strong>ed a lo-
