problems for CPT Maloney upon <strong>the</strong> unit’s return <strong>to</strong> Fort Riley.<br />

Some equipment shipped <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> desert could not be accounted<br />

for and was assumed lost dur<strong>in</strong>g this transaction. Although LTC<br />

Wilson recommended that, under <strong>the</strong> circumstances, no one be<br />

held accountable for <strong>the</strong> lost equipment, COL Mowery decided <strong>to</strong><br />

charge <strong>the</strong> S4 with <strong>the</strong> loss. <strong>The</strong> matter was f<strong>in</strong>ally cleared <strong>in</strong> Maloney’s<br />

favor after an appeal <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> division commander.<br />
