Interviews There is a wide range of interviews available to augment the official unit reports and documents. John Burdan interviewed a number of squadron members in the years immediately following the 1991 Persian Gulf War. Copies of these interviews will be deposited with the U.S. Cavalry Museum at Fort Riley, Kansas, and the 1st Infantry Division Museum at Catigny, Wheaton, Illinois. Members interviewed include: Major William Wimbish; Captains Michael A. Bills, Eric Esplund, Douglas Morrison, Lou Parker, Christopher R. Philbrick, Kenneth Pope, Vincent Tedesco; Lieutenants James C. Copenhaver, Mitch Osburn, Stephen Gruenig, David J. Palmieri, Matt Vanderfeltz, Jorge Caraballo; Chief Warrant/ Warrant Officers Wayne Grimes, Kirk Waymire, Gary Notestine; Sergeant Major Gary Parkey; Sergeant First Class William Molitor; Staff Sergeants William A. Ball and Don Wehage; and PFC Leslie Robb. Army historians from the Center of Military History interviewed members of the 1st Infantry Division, VII Corps, and Third Army. These interviews are now held in the Center of Military History’s Desert Storm Interview Collection at Fort Mc- Nair, DC. Interviews consulted include: MG Thomas Rhame; BG Steven L. Arnold; Colonels Terry Bullington, Michael Dodson, Terry Ford, Lon E. Maggart, Anthony Moreno; Lieutenant Colonels John Andrews, Edwin L. Buffington, Gregory R. Fontenot, John R. Burns and Juan Torro; and First Sergeant Robert P. Harn. Other interview collections include those used by Colonel Richard Swain in his writing of “Lucky War:” Third Army in Desert Storm.
