These images raised issues that are well beyond <strong>the</strong> scope <strong>of</strong> this <strong>in</strong>vestigation,<br />

but I could not help ask<strong>in</strong>g if <strong>the</strong> posited hypo<strong>the</strong>ses <strong>of</strong> warfare, <strong>in</strong>vasion, or <strong>the</strong> collapse<br />

<strong>of</strong> a social network adequately expla<strong>in</strong> this process? What o<strong>the</strong>r causes could contribute<br />

to this drastic demographic change? How large an area did it affect? Regard<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>in</strong>vestigation <strong>of</strong> El Marquesillo, by be<strong>in</strong>g aware <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se dynamic factors I became more<br />

sensitive to <strong>the</strong> evidence that might concern occupational cont<strong>in</strong>uity and o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

demographic issues.<br />
