The throne is carved <strong>in</strong> a simple, angular form without detailed elaboration. The<br />

proportional symmetry is notable; dur<strong>in</strong>g extensive field measurements it was found that<br />

<strong>the</strong> variation between left and right side elements was less than 2 cm. Note that <strong>the</strong><br />

dimensions presented <strong>in</strong> Figures 5.51 and 5.52 are correct; <strong>the</strong> camera angle was not<br />

perfectly perpendicular to <strong>the</strong> throne and, <strong>the</strong>refore, <strong>the</strong> photographs may appear slightly<br />

skewed. Two raised ridges run across <strong>the</strong> top <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> throne from front to back, and a<br />

raised trapezoid feature is centered on <strong>the</strong> back. In Figure 5.54, this feature has been<br />

outl<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>in</strong> red for easier visibility. Overlay<strong>in</strong>g a duplicate trapezoid on <strong>the</strong> front open<strong>in</strong>g<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> piece demonstrates that <strong>the</strong> rear element closely replicates <strong>the</strong> niche on <strong>the</strong> front.<br />

It appears that attempts were made to remove all iconographic symbolism or any<br />

type <strong>of</strong> personal identification from <strong>the</strong> monument. This effac<strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong> identity was not<br />
