The fabric-like impr<strong>in</strong>t appears to be <strong>the</strong> result <strong>of</strong> a textile that was used to form <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>in</strong>terior core <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> spout dur<strong>in</strong>g production <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> molded vessel.<br />

Offer<strong>in</strong>g IV<br />

Offer<strong>in</strong>g IV was located 1 m north <strong>of</strong> Offer<strong>in</strong>g III, at approximately <strong>the</strong> same<br />

horizontal level. The <strong>of</strong>fer<strong>in</strong>g consisted <strong>of</strong> two flat-bottom tripod bowls, both 23 cm <strong>in</strong><br />

diameter that were deposited <strong>in</strong> a lip-to-lip fashion, one <strong>in</strong>verted over <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r. This type<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>fer<strong>in</strong>g was known and practiced across Mesoamerican dur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> Classic period<br />

(Chase and Chase 1998:308-309; Fox et al. 1996; Taschek and Ball 1999). Their<br />

breakage <strong>in</strong> antiquity and <strong>the</strong> erosional action along <strong>the</strong> river cut bank caused <strong>the</strong> loss <strong>of</strong><br />

several pieces <strong>of</strong> each bowl and prevented <strong>the</strong> recovery <strong>of</strong> any substance that may have<br />

been orig<strong>in</strong>ally placed <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> bowls. As with Offer<strong>in</strong>g III, <strong>the</strong>se are Classic period ceramic<br />
