Each annual river <strong>in</strong>undation causes fur<strong>the</strong>r undercutt<strong>in</strong>g and collapse <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

embankment while run<strong>of</strong>f from normal ra<strong>in</strong>fall events also exposes new stratigraphic<br />

details and more materials as <strong>the</strong> land is cont<strong>in</strong>ually eroded away. The results <strong>of</strong><br />

numerous surveys and collections along <strong>the</strong> dynamic, cut embankment are reported <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

ceramic and <strong>of</strong>fer<strong>in</strong>g sections <strong>of</strong> this chapter. Slump and collapse events are common<br />

along <strong>the</strong> 1.5 km-long elevated river cut bank and Figure 5.3 illustrates a 5 m-wide<br />

example <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> result.<br />
