<strong>the</strong>reby, obscur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> magnetic read<strong>in</strong>gs. It is possible that this anomaly may extend<br />

significantly fur<strong>the</strong>r to <strong>the</strong> west-southwest underneath <strong>the</strong> constructions. Both L<strong>in</strong>ear<br />

<strong>An</strong>omalies 1 and 2 have <strong>the</strong> appearance and amplitude that could be attributed to buried<br />

basalt. Their evenness and arrangement suggests <strong>in</strong>tentional placement and alignment as<br />

a wall or pathway.<br />

<strong>An</strong>o<strong>the</strong>r magnetic anomaly detected at El Marquesillo is associated with Structure<br />

84 and can be described as elongated and coherent, and has an amplitude <strong>of</strong> 175 nT. Data<br />

filter<strong>in</strong>g, enhancement algorithms, and model<strong>in</strong>g techniques were conducted at <strong>the</strong><br />

Geophysics and Volcanology Laboratory <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> University <strong>of</strong> South Florida’s Department<br />

<strong>of</strong> Geology. These procedures <strong>in</strong>dicated that <strong>the</strong> anomaly is likely a rectangular body <strong>of</strong><br />

basalt with significant depth (possibly greater than 2 m) and estimated to be up to 10 m<br />

long by 10 m wide. This size would preclude that <strong>the</strong> anomaly is caused by a s<strong>in</strong>gle piece<br />
