Alignment C<br />

The erosion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> face <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> river cut back has fortuitously revealed Offer<strong>in</strong>gs<br />

III, IV, and V. Alignment C is a straight l<strong>in</strong>e drawn through <strong>the</strong>se three <strong>of</strong>fer<strong>in</strong>gs and is<br />

oriented to 18.5º west <strong>of</strong> magnetic north (see Figure 6.10). If my hypo<strong>the</strong>sis concern<strong>in</strong>g<br />

Structure 111 is correct (see pages 252-257), <strong>the</strong>n <strong>the</strong> medial axis <strong>of</strong> this build<strong>in</strong>g lies<br />

along exactly this same l<strong>in</strong>e.<br />

Extension <strong>of</strong> this axis to <strong>the</strong> south shows that it <strong>in</strong>tersects with <strong>the</strong> longitud<strong>in</strong>al<br />

centerl<strong>in</strong>e <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> plaza <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> primary Villa Alta phase long mound complex. The medial<br />

axis <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Northwest Architectural Complex, a secondary Villa Alta phase long-mound<br />
