horizons. Charles B. Connor helped me to better understand and explore <strong>the</strong> relationships<br />

between geology and archaeology, and he generously provided <strong>the</strong> technologies<br />

necessary for <strong>the</strong> remote sens<strong>in</strong>g portions <strong>of</strong> this <strong>in</strong>vestigation.<br />

In <strong>the</strong> field, <strong>the</strong> archaeological survey project was facilitated by <strong>the</strong> assistance <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> people <strong>of</strong> El Marquesillo. I would specifically like to thank Mario and Christ<strong>in</strong>a<br />
