This deposit was located less than 1 m south <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> throne and 1 m sou<strong>the</strong>ast <strong>of</strong><br />

Offer<strong>in</strong>g I. Offer<strong>in</strong>g II was also encountered at a depth <strong>of</strong> 110 cm and extended ano<strong>the</strong>r<br />

1.60 m to an overall depth <strong>of</strong> 2.7 m below <strong>the</strong> present ground surface. This feature’s<br />

<strong>in</strong>verted conical form had an upper diameter <strong>of</strong> 2.0 m and conta<strong>in</strong>ed an assortment <strong>of</strong><br />

burned clay fragments, an ash-like material, and a significant quantity <strong>of</strong> organic<br />

material. Ceramics were recovered <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> upper portions <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> feature and represent <strong>the</strong><br />

Early, Middle, and Late Formative periods but <strong>in</strong> substantially smaller amounts than <strong>in</strong><br />

Offer<strong>in</strong>g I, amount<strong>in</strong>g to a total <strong>of</strong> 416 diagnostic pieces. Hernández (2003:18-22) noted<br />

that <strong>the</strong>re was a considerable amount <strong>of</strong> burned clay that appeared to l<strong>in</strong>e <strong>the</strong> bottom and<br />

sides <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> cavity. The major portion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>of</strong>fer<strong>in</strong>g was composed <strong>of</strong> a thick layer <strong>of</strong><br />

organic material. Figure 5.38 illustrates this layer, which appears <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> shape <strong>of</strong> a<br />
