i) To circulate minutes of the Infection Control Operational Committee<br />

meetings to the Chief Executive, Medical Director, Chief Operating Officer or<br />

designated Deputy, CCDC and other personnel as appropriate.<br />

j) To promote and facilitate education to all Health Care Workers as<br />

appropriate<br />

k) To provide a link between the ICOC and ward/departments to ensure<br />

infection control issues are addressed<br />

l) To ensure infection control issues are identified via Risk Management and<br />

Health, Safety and Welfare Council as appropriate<br />

5.11 Executive Infection Control Group<br />

The Executive Infection Control Group (EICG) represents a forum to provide added<br />

impetus to the implementation of improvements of infection control across the<br />

organisation The EICG links directly with the ICC and <strong>Trust</strong> <strong>Board</strong>. Members of the<br />

EICG consist of the following;<br />

• Chief Executive<br />

• Director of Infection, Prevention and Control<br />

• Chief Nurse<br />

• Deputy Director of Nursing, Midwifery and Therapies<br />

• Director of Finance<br />

• Director of Facilities<br />

• Chief Operating Officer or designated Deputy<br />

• Deputy Director of Facilities<br />

• Head of Infection Control Nursing Service<br />

5.11.1 Role of the Executive Infection Control Group<br />

a) To monitor progress against the actions in the Assurance Framework and<br />

take appropriate measures where necessary.<br />

b) To update the Assurance Framework on a regular basis, maintaining an<br />

auditable documentation trail.<br />

c) To review any external documents, guidance and requirements, and to<br />

ensure an appropriate <strong>Trust</strong> response.<br />

d) To identify possible funding sources where funding is required to progress<br />

actions.<br />

e) To provide assurance to the Governance <strong>Board</strong> and <strong>Trust</strong> <strong>Board</strong> that<br />

appropriate measure are in place to manage the risk of infection.<br />

f) To remove obstacles and bring challenges to the rest of the <strong>Trust</strong> on issues<br />

related to infection control and prevention<br />

5.12 Healthcare Economy Group for Infection Control<br />

• Director of Infection, Prevention and Control (Chair)<br />

• Head of Infection Control Nursing Services, SWBH<br />

• Chief Nurse, SWBH<br />

• DIPC & Infection Control Lead – HOB & <strong>Sandwell</strong> PCTs<br />

• Consultants in Communicable Disease Control (<strong>Birmingham</strong> & <strong>Sandwell</strong>)<br />

• DIPC/Infection Control Lead – Mental Health <strong>Trust</strong><br />
