2 Minutes of the previous meeting – 17 December 2009 SWBFC (12/09) 229<br />

The minutes of the previous meeting were accepted as a true and accurate record<br />

of discussions held on 17 December 2009.<br />

AGREEMENT:<br />

The minutes of the previous meeting were approved subject to minor<br />

amendment<br />

The updated actions log was noted by the Committee.<br />

4 Theatre utilisation Presentation<br />

Mr Mike Beveridge, Dr Romesh Rasanayagam and Mrs Corinne Bromley joined the<br />

meeting to present an update on progress with improving the <strong>Trust</strong>’s operating<br />

theatre utilisation performance.<br />

Mr Kirby advised that good progress had been made on ensuring that theatre lists<br />

start on time and most particularly in the ophthalmology operating theatres. In<br />

January <strong>2010</strong>, the improved position seen before Christmas had been noted to<br />

continue.<br />

Dr Rasanayagam reported that by the end of November 2009, all theatre lists were<br />

being reviewed in detail and the necessary support from the relevant consultants<br />

regarding the work needed to improve the utilisation position had been gained. Mr<br />

Beveridge added that information concerning both late starts and early finishes is<br />

now sent to Clinical Directors for review. Peer pressure to improve performance is<br />
