• Flexibility and timing of visiting hours with partners being able to stay all day or visit at<br />

any time during the day.<br />

• Being offered a range of choices about how to give birth, including options on birthing<br />

positions and access to specialist equipment such as a birthing pool.<br />

• Continuity of care, particularly for first time mums.<br />

5. Thematic Analysis<br />

5.1 Young People<br />

Young people (identified as those people who are either under 16 or aged 16 -18) made up just<br />

over 7% of all respondents with 56 completing the questionnaire.<br />

Of this 56:<br />

• 47 were young women<br />

• 7 were young men (2 people did not answer this question)<br />

As can be seen from table 6 below the majority of the young people were either already<br />

parents or about to become parents.<br />
