9.0 Education and Training<br />

9.1 Education and training is integral to all infection control policies. Specific element<br />

training i.e. hand hygiene compliance is outlined in the Hand Hygiene Policy.<br />

9.2 Levels of training required by each staff group are identified within the <strong>Trust</strong><br />

Induction and Mandatory Training Policy. Staff must attend mandatory training, in<br />

line with the Training Needs Analysis contained within the <strong>Trust</strong> Induction, Statutory<br />

and Mandatory Training Policy.<br />

9.3 It is the responsibility of Managers to ensure all staff have received appropriate<br />

training in infection prevention and control and can demonstrate an understanding<br />

of the principles and guidelines outlined in the infection control policies/guidelines.<br />

9.4 Managers are responsible for ensuring all staff have undertaken the Infection<br />

Control Induction and mandatory training programme.<br />

9.5 Learning and Development is responsible for maintaining an audit trail of all staff<br />

that have undergone the Infection Control Induction and mandatory training and<br />

following up staff who have not attended training.<br />

10.0 Equality and Diversity<br />

The <strong>Trust</strong> recognises the diversity of the local community and those in its employ. Our aim<br />

is, therefore, to provide a safe environment free from discrimination and a place where all<br />

individuals are treated fairly, with dignity and appropriately to their need. The <strong>Trust</strong><br />

recognises that equality impacts on all aspects of its day-to-day operations and has<br />

produced an Equality Policy Statement to reflect this. All policies are assessed in<br />

accordance with the Equality initial screening toolkit, the results for which are monitored<br />

centrally.<br />

11.0 Policy Review<br />

This policy will be reviewed in 2 years time. Earlier review may be required in response to<br />

exceptional circumstances, organisational change or relevant changes in legislation or<br />

guidance<br />
