Public service organisations are required to take concerted action to identify and<br />

eliminate inequality. Undertaking equality impact assessment in relation to all<br />

relevant policies provides the means for doing this.<br />

This checklist should be completed to determine if the proposed policy is<br />

relevant to the <strong>Trust</strong>’s General Duty under race, gender and disability equality.<br />

CHECKLIST<br />

Step 1 – What is the purpose of the policy/service proposal?<br />

• To meet the statutory requirements as set out in ‘The Health and Social Care Act<br />

2008’.- Code of Practice for health and adult social care on the prevention and<br />

control of infections and related guidance’.<br />

• To provide an efficient, cost effective infection control service for the <strong>Trust</strong><br />

• To utilise, develop and promote infection control practices which are cost effective,<br />

safe and efficient, minimising the risk of patients acquiring infections during or as a<br />

result of their stay in the hospital.<br />

• To implement the annual Programme and polices and to be responsible for<br />

providing advice to the <strong>Trust</strong> or hospital staff on a 24 hour basis<br />

How will the outcomes be measured?<br />

• Infection Control – through day to day practices and audit.<br />

• Ward/Departmental managers, Matrons, Clinical directors, Divisional Managers<br />

are responsible for ensuring compliance against policy is met<br />

Who are the key stakeholders? All clinical and non clinical areas
