SSSI.
12.4.37 With regard to the potential collision risk associated with the notified species of Gartmorn Dam
SSSI, this is discussed in detail in the Assessment of Potential Effects (Table 12.18) below.
Given the outcomes of the relevant species’ collision risk assessments the impact on the
populations associated with Gartmorn Dam are predicted to be non-significant.
12.4.38 Consequently, the impacts of the proposed wind energy development on Gartmorn Dam SSSI
are predicted to be non-significant.
Carron Dams SSSI
12.4.39 Carron Dams SSSI is located approximately 7.8km due south of the proposed wind energy
development site. Given this distance there will be no loss of habitat from this designated site
and none of the features for which it is notified will be disturbed directly by the proposed wind
energy development.
12.4.40 Although Carron Dams supports a variety of breeding and wintering birds this site is not
recognised for attracting large numbers of waterfowl and wading birds such as those which
occur at Forthbank. As the movement of overwintering birds between the Forth estuary and
Carron Dams is expected to be infrequent, the proposed wind energy development is not
predicted to have a barrier effect on the movement of birds to and from Carron Dams SSSI,
nor will it pose a significant collision risk to the species which typically occur there.
12.4.41 Consequently, the impacts of the proposed wind energy development on Carron Dams SSSI
are predicted to be non-significant.
Black Devon Wetlands Wildlife Site (WS)
12.4.42 Potential impacts resulting from the construction and operation of the proposed wind energy
development on Black Devon Wetlands Wildlife Site are addressed in Chapter 11: Ecology.
Predicted effects of the proposed wind energy development on the bird species which occur at
this site are discussed in Table 12.18.
Alloa Inches SWT Nature Reserve
12.4.43 Potential impacts resulting from the construction and operation of the proposed wind energy
development on Alloa Inches Nature Reserve are addressed in Chapter 11: Ecology.
Predicted effects of the proposed wind energy development on the bird species which occur at
this site are discussed in Table 12.18.
Potential Impacts on Valued Ornithological Receptors
12.4.44 Table 12.18 presents the assessment of impacts on the VORs identified in Table 12.17 during
both the construction and operational phases of the proposed wind energy development. The
