<strong>Engineering</strong> <strong>Standards</strong><br />

C. Section 3 – Subgrade and Pavement Design Requirements<br />

This section includes minimum requirements associated with pavement and subgrade design<br />

requirements (including geotechnical requirements) for roadways within the <strong>City</strong>,<br />

D. Section 4 – Drainage Design Requirements<br />

This section includes minimum storm drainage design requirements to be followed in the design<br />

<strong>of</strong> storm drainage facilities, and demonstrates the design procedures to be used on drainage<br />

projects within the <strong>City</strong>. This section also addresses floodplains, bridge hydraulics, erosion<br />

control and sustainable development.<br />

E. Section 5 – Utility Design Requirements<br />

This section includes minimum design requirements for public wastewater facilities, water<br />

distribution and transmission system facilities.<br />

F. Section 6 – Landscaping Design Requirements<br />

This section provides additional requirements and standards to address landscaping requirements<br />

within roadway right-<strong>of</strong>-way, specifically in the medians <strong>of</strong> arterial roadways.<br />

G. Section 7– Irrigation Design Requirements<br />

This section provides additional requirements and standards to address irrigation requirements<br />

within roadway right-<strong>of</strong>-way.<br />

H. Section 8 – Environmental Requirements<br />

This section provides additional requirements and standards to address environmental<br />

requirements, including stormwater best management practices.<br />

I. Section 9 – Structural Design Requirements<br />

This section establishes minimum structural design and geotechnical requirements for various<br />

items including bridges, concrete structures, retaining walls, and screening walls. This section<br />

also addresses slope stability analysis.<br />

J. Section 10 – Survey Requirements<br />

This section is to address survey requirements.<br />

K. Appendix<br />

1. General Notes – The latest version <strong>of</strong> general notes shall be included in the Construction<br />

Plans for all projects.<br />

2. Standard Details - All projects shall be constructed in accordance with the <strong>City</strong>’s standard<br />

details which are available through the <strong>City</strong> web site. It is the responsibility <strong>of</strong> the engineer to<br />

use the most current detail, as the details are subject to change. If a necessary standard detail<br />

is not available from the <strong>City</strong>, TxDOT details are generally acceptable except for utility<br />

construction. For utility work, a standard detail may be selected from the most recent version<br />

<strong>of</strong> Public Works Construction <strong>Standards</strong> as issued by the North Central Texas Council <strong>of</strong><br />
