TURFGRASS PLANTING<br />

PART 1 - GENERAL<br />

1.01 DESCRIPTION<br />

A. This work includes all labor, materials, and equipment for soil preparation, fertilization,<br />

planting, and other requirements regarding Turfgrass Planting areas shown on the plans.<br />

1.02 RELATED SECTIONS<br />

A. Section 024100 - General Site Preparation<br />

B. Section 328000 - Irrigation System<br />

C. Section 329113 – Fertilizer<br />

D. Section 329119 - Topsoil<br />

1.03 SUBMITTALS<br />

A. Delivery Receipts and Invoices: All delivery receipts and copies <strong>of</strong> invoices for materials<br />

used for this work shall be subject to checking by the Owner and shall be subsequently<br />

delivered to the <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> the Owner.<br />

B. Samples and Producers’ Specifications: Various samples, certificates, and specifications <strong>of</strong><br />

seed, fertilizer, sand, compost, other soil amendments, and other materials shall be submitted<br />

for approval as required by subsequent sections <strong>of</strong> this specification.<br />

PART 2 - PRODUCTS<br />

2.01 TURFGRASS<br />

A. Bermudagrass Seed: Turfgrass seed shall be “Cynodon dactylon” (Common Bermudagrass).<br />

The seed shall be harvested within one (1) year prior to planting, free <strong>of</strong> Johnsongrass, field<br />

bind weed, dodder seed, and free <strong>of</strong> other weed seed to the limits allowable under the Federal<br />

Seed Act and applicable seed laws. The seed shall not be a mixture. The seed shall be hulled,<br />

extra fancy grade, treated with fungicide, and have a germination and purity that will<br />

produce, after allowance for Federal Seed Act tolerances, a pure live seed content <strong>of</strong> not less<br />

than 85% using the formula: purity % times (germination % times plus hard or sound seed<br />

%). Seed shall be labeled in accordance with U.S. Department <strong>of</strong> Agriculture rules and<br />

regulations.<br />

1. Certificate Submittal: Prior to planting, provide the Owner or his representative with the<br />

State Certificate stating analysis <strong>of</strong> purity and germination <strong>of</strong> seed.<br />

B. Sod: Turfgrass sod shall be “Cynodon dactylon” (Common Bermudagrass). Sod shall consist<br />

<strong>of</strong> stolons, leaf blades, rhizomes, and roots with a healthy, virile system <strong>of</strong> dense, thickly<br />

matted roots throughout the soil <strong>of</strong> the sod for a thickness not less than three-quarters (3/4”)<br />
