protection against chemicals shall be met or exceeded. The design and spacing <strong>of</strong> joints shall also<br />

meet or exceed the minimum requirements <strong>of</strong> ACI 350.<br />

E. The design and construction <strong>of</strong> roadway bridges shall be provided in accordance with the<br />

requirements <strong>of</strong> the current version <strong>of</strong> the “Standard Specifications for Highway Bridges” as<br />

published by the American Association <strong>of</strong> State and Highway Transportation Officials<br />

(AASHTO).<br />

F. Concrete exposed to sulfate-containing solutions or soils shall be made with sulfate-resisting<br />

cement. The concrete shall be provided in accordance with the requirements <strong>of</strong> ACI 318 Section<br />

4.3. Table 4.3.1 lists the appropriate types <strong>of</strong> cement, the maximum water-cementitious material<br />

ratios, and the minimum specified compressive strengths for various exposure conditions.<br />
