REMOVAL, PROTECTION AND REPLACEMENT OF TREES, SHRUBBERY,<br />

PLANTS, SOD, AND OTHER VEGETATION<br />

PART 1 – GENERAL<br />

1.01 DESCRIPTION<br />

A. All material, labor, equipment, tools and superintendence necessary for removal, protection<br />

and replacement <strong>of</strong> trees, shrubbery, plants, sod and other vegetation in accordance with<br />

Public Works Construction <strong>Standards</strong>, NCTCOG, 4 th Edition, Item 202.1.<br />

2.01 MATERIALS<br />

PART 3 – EXECUTION<br />

3.01 PREPARATION<br />

A. Refer to Public Works Construction <strong>Standards</strong>, NCTCOG, 4th Edition, Item 202.1.<br />

B. Unless otherwise specified on the plans, trees and shrubs with calipers greater than three (3”)<br />

inches shall not be cleared (removed) provided that both <strong>of</strong> the following conditions are met:<br />

1. The vegetation exists in an area that is not proposed for pavement, a structure, or the<br />

playing bounds <strong>of</strong> an athletic field.<br />

2. The vegetation is in an area where the cut or fill does not exceed six inches (6”).<br />

C. The Owner will assist the Contractor in identifying trees that are to be saved from clearing if<br />

not specified in the plans. The Contractor will protect such trees from construction damage<br />

such as trunk impacts and scrapes, limb breakage, compaction <strong>of</strong> soil within the drip line, and<br />

other injurious construction activities. If necessary, the Owner may direct the Contractor, at<br />

the Contractor’s expense, to erect protective stockades along the drip lines <strong>of</strong> trees that the<br />

<strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Frisco</strong> Removal, Protection, and Replacement <strong>of</strong> Trees May 2012<br />
