<strong>Engineering</strong> <strong>Standards</strong><br />

1.03 Enforcement<br />

The <strong>City</strong>’s <strong>Engineering</strong> <strong>Standards</strong> are issued by the <strong>Engineering</strong> Services and Public Works Departments,<br />

and are hereby authorized to enforce the provisions <strong>of</strong> these <strong>Engineering</strong> <strong>Standards</strong>. The standards and<br />

any updates will be available on the <strong>City</strong>’s website.<br />

These <strong>Engineering</strong> <strong>Standards</strong> shall be in full force and effect immediately upon adoption by the <strong>City</strong><br />

Council. Projects will be required to comply with all requirements. The standards include the various<br />

design criteria, technical specifications, and standard construction details which are considered minimum<br />

requirements for the design and construction <strong>of</strong> adequate public facilities within the <strong>City</strong>. The Engineer<br />

<strong>of</strong> record shall bear the sole responsibility for meeting the <strong>Engineering</strong> standard <strong>of</strong> care for all<br />

aspects <strong>of</strong> the design and providing a design that’s required by the site-specific conditions and<br />

intended use <strong>of</strong> the facilities, while at a minimum meeting the <strong>City</strong>’s design and construction<br />

requirements.<br />

1.04 Amendment<br />

A. The <strong>City</strong> may amend the <strong>Engineering</strong> <strong>Standards</strong>. In order to ensure that the Engineer has the<br />

<strong>City</strong>’s latest design standards, they are directed to the <strong>City</strong>’s website to acquire the <strong>City</strong>’s most<br />

current design standards. The <strong>Engineering</strong> <strong>Standards</strong> will include a Record <strong>of</strong> Revisions to<br />

identify any revisions to the <strong>Engineering</strong> <strong>Standards</strong>.<br />

B. A formal request to modify current design criteria or add new design criteria can be submitted to<br />

the <strong>City</strong> for consideration in writing to the Director <strong>of</strong> <strong>Engineering</strong> Services.<br />

1.05 Deviation Requests<br />

A. All deviations from the requirements included in the <strong>Engineering</strong> <strong>Standards</strong> shall be approved by<br />

the Director <strong>of</strong> <strong>Engineering</strong> Services.. A grant <strong>of</strong> an alternative material, design, or method <strong>of</strong><br />

construction shall not affect nor relieve the Engineer <strong>of</strong> the obligation and responsibility <strong>of</strong><br />

such material, design, or method <strong>of</strong> construction for the intended purposes.<br />

B. In the event that specific circumstances dictate requirements not already included in the<br />

<strong>Engineering</strong> <strong>Standards</strong>, it shall be the responsibility <strong>of</strong> the Engineer to provide the additional<br />

information as deemed necessary by the Director <strong>of</strong> <strong>Engineering</strong> Services in writing for review.<br />

1.06 Applicability<br />

The Engineer shall be responsible for the applicability <strong>of</strong> the information contained in the<br />

<strong>Engineering</strong> <strong>Standards</strong> to the design <strong>of</strong> their particular project. The Engineer shall also be<br />

responsible for the applicability and accuracy <strong>of</strong> the information furnished in their design.<br />

Acceptance by the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> the plans for construction shall not be construed to relieve the Engineer<br />

<strong>of</strong> any responsibility.<br />
