<strong>Engineering</strong> <strong>Standards</strong><br />

B. Pavement Design Catalog is provided for each <strong>of</strong> the two main soil formations in <strong>Frisco</strong>: the<br />

Eagle Ford and the Austin Chalk. Adequate testing is required to determine which soil formation<br />

the project site lies within.<br />

C. The Pavement Design Catalog is based on the data contained in Table 3.1. Any alternate designs<br />

shall be based on the same data.<br />

D. All concrete for paving shall be Class C unless otherwise approved by the Director <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>Engineering</strong> Services.<br />

E. All concrete which comes into contact with soils containing more than 0.1% (1,000 ppm) sulfate<br />

shall be designed to resist sulfate attack.<br />

F. All asphalt shall be Type C.<br />

G. Reinforcement shall be no less than #4 bars on 18” spacing.<br />

H. Within the Pavement Design Catalog, the following applies :<br />

1. Each option correlates to a specified range <strong>of</strong> swell potential.<br />

2. Layer thickness is shown in inches and is not to scale.<br />

3. Thoroughfare classes correspond to a specific range <strong>of</strong> average daily traffic (ADT).<br />

4. For simplicity, Options 2.1-2.6 only show Type A & B Thoroughfares since Types C-G<br />

Thoroughfares will not incorporate a nonwoven geotextile interlayer and CTB. For Types C-<br />

G, use Options 1.1-1.6<br />
