B. All hydrants shall be painted with two coats <strong>of</strong> Tnemec Series 530 Omnithane Aluminum,<br />

Silver paint.<br />

C. The top bonnet, including the lip, and the nozzle caps <strong>of</strong> all hydrants shall be painted<br />

according to the following table:<br />

Size <strong>of</strong> Main Connected to Fire Hydrant Lead<br />

Color<br />

6” Aluminum / Silver<br />

8” True Blue / Safety<br />

12” or larger Yellow / Safety<br />

D. Fire hydrants shall be installed so the breakaway point will be no less than four inches (4”)<br />

and no greater than eight inches (8”) above the final grade elevation. If grade adjustments<br />

are made during residential or commercial construction, the fire hydrant shall be adjusted by<br />

builder to meet breakaway requirements listed previously before obtaining certificate <strong>of</strong><br />

occupancy.<br />

E. Fire hydrants shall be located a minimum <strong>of</strong> two feet (2’) and a maximum <strong>of</strong> six feet (6’)<br />

from the fire lane or public roadway, based on the location <strong>of</strong> the sidewalk. The fire hydrant<br />

shall not be located in the sidewalk.<br />

F. All fire hydrants shall be installed so that the steamer connection will face the fire lane or<br />

public roadway.<br />

G. Fire hydrants shall be located no closer than ten feet (10’) from the curb return at street or<br />

fire lane intersections.<br />

H. A blue reflector shall be placed just <strong>of</strong>f center <strong>of</strong> the street or fire lane opposite fire hydrants.<br />

At intersections, reflectors shall be placed on both roadways opposite fire hydrant.<br />
