TAPPING SLEEVES FOR PVC AND DUCTILE IRON PIPE
A. All material, labor, equipment, tools and superintendence necessary to furnish and install
tapping sleeves for polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and ductile iron water pipe in accordance with
Public Works Construction Standards, NCTCOG, 4 th Edition, Item 506.6.

PART 3 – EXECUTION
3.01 INSTALLATION
A. Refer to Public Works Construction Standards, NCTCOG, 4 th Edition, Item 506.6.
B. Taps must be at least one nominal size smaller than the water main being tapped for
connections to water mains larger than twelve inches (12”) in diameter.
C. The minimum size tap allowed on water mains twenty inches (20”) and larger shall be six
inch (6”).
D. No tapping sleeves allowed on asbestos cement water mains.
