1.01 DESCRIPTION<br />

SECTION 321725<br />

PREFABRICATED PAVEMENT MARKINGS (WITH WARRANTY)<br />

A. All material, labor, equipment, tools and superintendence necessary to furnish and install<br />

Prefabricated Pavement Markings as indicated in the plans with a manufacturer’s warranty<br />

bond for a 6 year period. The <strong>City</strong> will allow a Contractor provided warranty bond in lieu <strong>of</strong><br />

the manufacturer’s bond if all conditions <strong>of</strong> the manufacturer’s warranty including the<br />

requirements <strong>of</strong> this Item are met. In such case, the Contractor is responsible for meeting the<br />

warranty requirements. Use the form provided by the <strong>City</strong>. The <strong>City</strong> will allow substitution <strong>of</strong><br />

a contractor’s bond with a manufacturer’s bond after execution <strong>of</strong> the Contract prior to final<br />

acceptance.<br />

PART 2 - PRODUCTS<br />

2.01 MATERIALS<br />

A. Contractor shall use 3M 270 Tape (or approved equal) for all directional arrows and<br />

messages, and 3M 380 Tape for all longitudinal pavement markings and 12” channelization<br />

lines as indicated in the plan. Approved equal pavement markings must meet the TxDOT<br />

requirements <strong>of</strong> Type B markings in DMS-8240.<br />

2.02 EQUIPMENT<br />

A. Provide equipment as required or directed according to the following (The provider <strong>of</strong> the<br />

warranty bond is responsible for providing equipment during the warranty period unless<br />

otherwise shown on the plans.):<br />

1. Preparation and Application. Use equipment designed for the pavement preparation and<br />

application <strong>of</strong> the type <strong>of</strong> pavement marking material selected.<br />

2. Colorimeter. Provide a colorimeter using 45°/0° geometry CIE, D65 Illuminant, 2°<br />

standard observation angle meeting the requirements <strong>of</strong> ASTM E 1347, E 1348, or E<br />

1349.<br />

3. Retroreflectometer. Unless otherwise shown on the plans, provide a portable or mobile<br />

retroreflectometer meeting the following requirements.<br />

a. Portable Retroreflectometer. Provide a portable retroreflectometer that meets the<br />

requirements <strong>of</strong> ASTM E 1710<br />
