The Economic Community Of West African States
Renewable Energy Policy (EREP) aims to serve 25 per
cent of the rural population by decentralized renewable
energy solutions in 2030 (mini-grids and stand-alone
systems) i.e. 60,000 mini-grid systems by 2020. Part of
the mini grids could be powered by small-scale
hydropower systems. 9

MW in this region, with the exception of Ghana where it
is up to 1 MW (table 2).
