to release sediment from dams, it is difficult for the<br />

dam administrator alone to resolve the problem. Joint<br />

efforts are required by the Government, local<br />

population and researchers from interdisciplinary<br />

fields, covering disaster prevention, environment and<br />

resource management to find a consensus on<br />

sustainable hydropower generation and measures to<br />

mitigate negative impacts from hydropower<br />

development.<br />
