Barriers to small hydropower development
Environmental impact assessments are demanded in the
small hydropower licensing process and must be carried
out for all hydropower projects and for reservoirs with
volumes exceeding 106 m 3 . The small hydropower
manufacturing industry is not well-developed and there
is only one domestic turbine manufacturer.
