INNOVATION IN TRANSPORT AND GROWTH<br />

OF COMPANY VALUE IN TL MARKET<br />

14.1. Introduction<br />

Innovation is the phenomenon and practice undertaken in all areas of public<br />

and business life in the contemporary world. It is a measure of the level of modern<br />

economy and development of civilization. Introducing innovation determines<br />

the capacity of business organizations to function and survive in the competitive<br />

market.<br />

J. A. Schumpeter pointed out to the significance of innovation as a factor of<br />

dynamising economy when, at the beginning of the 20th century, he put forward<br />

his theory of innovation 1 based on the teaching of M. Kondratiev. Many<br />

researchers and pragmatists 2 have been dealing with the problem. Also the Lisbon<br />

Strategy stressed the importance of research on and development of innovation<br />

3 .<br />

Innovation is very important component of economic and social capital.<br />

It contributes to development and increase in the value of each activity and each<br />

organization. Innovative companies are learning economic organizations, able<br />

to create and effectively implement market, technical and organizational innovations<br />

helping to achieve strategic objectives in a competitive environment 4 .<br />
