The purpose of this meeting was to present the conceptual plans for the proposed bridge
connecting Malé and Hulhulé Island to the participating stakeholders, and gather their views,
concerns and recommendations to the plan. Nafha presented the conceptual plans to the
participants
MEE has undertaken in-depth studies of the plans of the bridge, and have undertaken feasibility
studies on the possibilities of installing solar panels to generate energy. The ministry has decided
not to install PVs on the bridge given the high maintenance cost.
These findings have been shared with the proponent (Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure).
Requested the outcomes of the findings of the EIA to be shared with the stakeholders for
comments.
Proper measures should be taken to prevent and reduce impacts of potential collision of boats
with the pillars of the bridge; these include use of fenders, markers etc.
