Consultations were also held with the general public of greater Male’ area. Two main surveys
were conducted to get the opinions of the public regarding the proposed project. A ferry user
survey was conducted for the customers using Male’-Hulhule’ and Male’-Hulhumale’ in order to
understand their purpose of travel, advantages and disadvantages of their current mode of travel
as well as their opinion on the proposed project. Targeting peak and off-peak hours of the ferries,
a total of 467 ferry users were interviewed for this survey. A further survey was also conducted
for the public of greater Male’ area to understand their opinion and concerns regarding the
project. A total of 380 respondents took part in the public survey.
Questionnaires used for both surveys are presented in Appendix M.
1.8.5 Data Analysis
The EIA experts used their experience and knowledge in their respective fields to analyze the
data from the previous studies and field visits in order to determine the potential impacts of the
proposed projects, the severity of effects arising from these impacts and how any adverse
impacts can be best mitigated and positive impacts enhanced. This analysis provides the
framework for the recommendations on corrective actions and remedial measures and provides
